The Firey Gizzard Trail Race

For me there are two main places to go to find a race. Since I live in Tennessee the best place for local races is Hardwin Adventures, they are known for their tough courses and fun atmosphere.  The second place is UltraSignUp from here you can find almost any race anywhere at any distance with most of them being on trails.

My list of races:

  • The Wild Thang 9 Mile - did it twice

  • Stump Jump 11 miler - back when they had an 11 miler, did it 3 times

  • Music City Trail Ultra 27k - did this distance 3 times *

  • Cumberland Gap Marathon - this was only run once, but it was a great one, first marathon

  • CloudSplitter 50k - did this the first year of the race

  • Stump Jump 50k - did this once

  • Music City Trail Ultra 50k - I've done this 3 times and counting, one of my favorite races *

  • Lookout Mountain 50 miler - done it 4 times, paced it once and going back to do it again, another of my favorite races

  • North Face 50 miler Endurance Challenge - did it once

  • Double Top 100k - DNF the first time, went back 2 years later and finished

  • CloudSplitter 100k - did it once, their first year in their new spot

  • Massanutten Mountain Trail 100 - did it once

  • Pinhoti 100 - DNF - read the race report to learn why

  • Black Toe 12 hour - did it once with a team and once solo *

  • Natchez Trace 50 Miler - did it once, would do it again *

  • Run Amok 100 - did it once, it's harder than you think because it's all mental

* means it's Hardwin Adventure Race. I've gotten really involved with this organization and we put on some of the best events in Tennessee and some of the most scenic in the southeast.
