likely due to the events that have happened int this place. This is where in the 70's James Earl Ray escaped from prison. From this event came a kind of trail race that has had only 18 finishers since 1986.
Why train here?
It's one of the few places that I have access to where I can get 6,000' of climbing in 20ish miles. The trails are not really groomed, in some areas the trails are well used, while others aren't likely to have seen a soul in weeks or months. Sections are truly southeast trails rooted and rocky going either straight up or straight down.
When I first came here to run I had no clue what I was getting into so it was a true adventure.
